Dialectic Against Reason
Dialectic Against Reason is essentially a photographic ode to the behaviors hidden beneath layers of civility and composure. Drawing on personality theories, the author argues that despite advancements in technology and knowledge, we remain bound to our instincts, which Freud identified as the foundation of the emotional and motivational forces driving human behavior. From this perspective, it seems that man is not shaped but already made, crafted from the same substance depicted in the works. The ultimate pursuit is for the viewer, upon facing these images that reflect our primal instincts, to become aware of them—of their inherent nature—and to question who truly governs their daily decisions: their instincts or reason.
