Statement
My photographic approach begins with a study of nature, using the symbolic qualities of its elements and forms to convey personal emotions, without relying on physical representation. To achieve this, my creative process draws from various disciplines, starting with the portrayal of personal experiences, which I then connect to psychological research or philosophical theories—particularly those of Arthur Schopenhauer and Theodor Adorno—as well as 20th-century art movements that serve as my artistic references, such as the work of Aaron Siskind and Billy Hare. These influences form the foundation of the compositional and narrative aspects of my visual work.Ultimately, my art seeks to revive the symbolic values of landscape art and reinterpret them through the contemporary language of photography. This approach allows me to maintain a connection with traditional painting while reflecting the natural environment of Arequipa. In today’s fast-paced global context, I aim to show that we can still connect with our most fundamental and essential emotions.
