Consumer

“Consumer” is an acrylic on canvas painting inspired by the desperation of an athlete to have a sponsor to ensure longevity in their careers. Having a kit deal is one thing but trainers can’t feed the athlete, that has been possed with the swoosh highlighted in their eyes. The image created was based on a self portrait but I strayed away from the likeness, just as one can loose themselves in the delusions of elite sport.

It’s also a loose connection to the fast fashion industry, in my admiration for the brand wanting to keep up with the newest trainer the Nike AF1 depicted, is the most sold trainer of the multi billion dollar company. Like them I recycled the paper found in their shoeboxes to reflect how they work in a space that focuses on innovation. That only the best can wear.
