Behind the cracks
My art practice is centered around the themes of imperfection, transience, and the essence of being human. "Behind the Cracks" is a visual quote of a famous line by L. Cohen: "There is a crack in everything, that's where the light gets in". It explores the imperfection we feel within ourselves and try to hide from the outside world—our cracks. However, cracks are also where the light gets in. While we struggle to conceal them, our cracks are what make us unique and uniquely beautiful. This work takes the form of a conversation between two entities, reminding us that being human involves not only dealing with our own imperfection but also embracing the cracks of those we love. The work combines delicate, translucent elements made of porcelain and gas-fired, metallic, terracotta.
