The Manu Lisa
The Manu Lisa is a self-portrait in oil. It is the first piece in my modern renaissance series which aims to break older, traditional portrait stereotypes.
I recently visited the Louvre Museum in Paris and saw the Mona Lisa in person. The famous enigmatic smile, composition and artistic treatment was incredibly inspiring.
However, this visit made me question what a museum would look like if there was more representation and diversity in the style of these traditional paintings. When I arrived back in London, curious about what I would look like in this style of art, I created the Manu Lisa with a modern twist.
