Raymond Daley

Statement

I am an artist who works across a multitude of disciplines paint, collage, drawing, mix media and photography. His work explores the characteristics of the human condition, struggle, oppression, inferiority, and poverty. My research cites texture and light, as binary factors, but I primarily use colour and line to underpin the ethos of my practice to address our hegemonic society and the archetypal relationships which uphold it.

Urban alienation is a recurring thread within my work which is expressed in different modes within the composition. As a painter, I often use mix media such as spray paint and sand which are industrial materials to suggest alienation and the isolation through contemporary technology and progressive ideals. The overarching subject matter in the work is Power and the historical narrative in relation to autonomy.
