Statement
These works are part of my ongoing investigation into the relationship between Photography and Painting through the genre of Still Life. I am particularly interested in the play between what is real and what is a pictorial invention as this is pertinent to both art forms. The starting point for this whole body of work was a study of the Dutch 16th century painters. However my inspiration here comes chiefly from the unique forms, gestures and colours created by these flowers at various stages in time. The studio set up allows the subjects a freedom of movement which is almost theatrical as captured by the lens.
