Sarah Garland

I am a photographer and visual artist based in England, UK. My work has been published by Humana Obscura Magazine in the Fall/Winter 2023 and Summer 2024 issues and in ‘Flora & Fauna’ – a hardback anthology from Open Shutter Press – in 2024. I was very recently one of the artists showing in an exhibition - ‘Botanical’ - at PhotoPlace Gallery, Middlebury, Vermont in the USA. My work is inspired by the ‘jewels’ hidden in the mundane and ordinary of the natural and man-made world around me. The drive behind my creative practice is a search for beauty and “essence” – for that which lies beyond the surface, for the light beyond the light - and is a deep expression of my relationship with my surroundings, and with myself. In this sense, it is both personal and transpersonal. Ultimately, it is an act of love. My hope is to create images that inspire people to think and feel deeply, and that connect them to what is beyond themselves.
