Statement
Foulkes has always been fascinated by architecture and travelling to new places to appreciate it. This interest extends to the appreciation of the derelict, dilapidated and decayed environment; this has been an inspiration for the work that she creates. From this initial inspiration her work has steadily become more abstract and has developed into a material exploration rather than being directly influenced by the architecture visually. Her most recent work shown here is an outcome of an in-depth experiment with hardboard strips that has gone through many different processes and explorations to get to this point.
