Statement
Identity and belonging, as well as the role of women in our society, are themes that I explore and develop in my work.
How much does an artist's background influence her work? It's easier to answer that question when you live abroad. It is being away from my country of origin that has allowed me to truly realise that I am a Caribbean artist. I was born in the Caribbean and have Indigenous, Spanish, African and Palestinian roots. However, I live in Switzerland where my children speak Spanish and Swiss German.
So I choose to define myself as an artist. There is nothing like art to define the sense of the collective as well as the individual.
